Patient Portal
Dr. Berg worked diligently to implement a patient portal called NextMD at Healthline Medical Group that promotes email communication (that complies with HIPAA regulations) between Healthline‘s patients and our professional staff. However, many patients found that the patient portal was too cumbersome to use and therefore the utilization in our practice, as well as on a national level was rather poor. Therefore Dr. Berg implemented our preferred communication tool called Klara. This communication tool is a secure texting-based software application that allows patients to easily communicate with our staff regarding any issues that need our attention. The patient response has been fabulous and the utilization vastly improved over use of the Portal. Klara is very easy to use and because it is text based only requires a cell phone # and date of birth for enrollment purposes. For patient safety and privacy and to remain HIPAA compliant Klara utilizes 2 factor authentication. Our patient population response to Klara has been terrific as it enables a professional, easy to use superb level of communication between our patients and our staff.
Dr. Berg has also just recently implemented another software tool, NextGen Mobile Plus, to assist with expediting patient care. NexGen Mobile Plus will greatly enhance and expedite our documentation processes. This voice-activated transcription process will greatly enhance our ability to provide referrals and other services that our patients require by expediting the documentation and authorization request process and allowing our medical providers to spend more time with our patients and hopefully less time manually filling out paperwork.
